Two Things to Remember to Promote a Healthy Relationship
By Alqueeah Cates
These two ideas that come to my mind are not new news or something profound. However, it is so important to keep them top of mind when you want to have a lasting relationship. Dating and communication I think are key ingredients. Whether you have been dating for a short period of time or you have been married for fifty years. You have to keep your relationship fresh and exciting! The well-being of yourself, partner and children are dependent upon your joy and happiness.
Date Each Other...
Spending time together is invaluable, especially when you purposely take time away from the everyday grind and do something special for each other. Planning this time together, needs to be a priority in your relationship. If you are not very spontaneous, some thought starters... Think about your partners interest that make them happy. Do something adventurous that you both have not done before. Attend a workshop or seminar to get "continuing education" about successful relationships. Life is too short to have a boring relationship. Make an investment into each other and get the most out of it!
Communication
I have learned that effective communication in a relationship can help you avoid potential problems or conflict. Working with your partner to communicate your needs is key. Remember, the other person does not know what you are thinking or how you feel unless you tell them. During your dates, make an effort to talk to each other. A simple question as "how was your day" can go a long way. Apart of communicating with each other is also listening. We all want to be heard in this world. Why not pay attention to the one you love!
